Dubai Sound City
I'm impressed that bands that I actually like are starting to show up in Dubai. It's nothing short of a miracle, considering the fact that when we first moved here, the only concert was Cliff Richards. (!)
The second I found out about Dubai Sound City, I started trying to figure out how to get tickets--and within a few days, had a 3-day pass to see tons of awesome bands!
Unfortunately, a few big name acts didn't show so many people (myself included) were disappointed. I'm not sure what happened with all of them--one band for sure had visa problems, some bands had members who were "sick" (but apparently also having some tax problems/couldn't leave the country) and who knows what else. However, I did get to see a few amazing shows and I'm still glad I bought the 3 day pass. Notable acts: Human League (30 years on-they are still awesome!) & Alphabeat

Aswan, Egypt (September 2009, continued)
I never finished posting my Egypt pictures on the old blog. Here are the photos from in and around Aswan.
Lunch:

I tried to get Paul to order the "crammed pigeon" or "frid ducks", but he chose the Kentaki instead. HA!
A felucca ride on the Nile--it was amazing.
Our boat was a little dilapidated, but it worked just fine.

(above: the Bob "Marly" felucca & "Nubian Breath". Smells like...?)
Aswan at night:

My favorite Egyptian food-Koshary!
Our convoy, en route to Abu Simbel, which was AMAZING. And quite close to the Sudanese border!

Abu Simbel:

I've never seen one of these before...
but I like it!

@ Dubai Mall
I'm pretty sure they haven't got the safety thing quite right yet because I have yet to see anyone at work here:
My new favorite shop in Dubai Mall--Candylicious! I love everything about it, down to its beautiful colorful packaging. I wish I had thought of it first--it's my dream business!
